Cancellation Policy:

Refunds are not available in the event you are unable to attend one of the workshops included in this series. If you have any questions, please contact the office at [email protected].


Nonpayment Policy:

I understand that full payment of the web series registration fees is required before the start of the first workshop. If full payment has not been remitted on or before Friday, October 6, 2023, the meeting details will not be sent to the attendee. Once payment has been received, meeting details will be released. If you have any questions, please contact the office at [email protected] or by phone at (206) 209-5267.


Technical Failure Policy:

I understand that if there is a technical failure at the registrant's home or workplace that prevents access to the live event, the registrant is not eligible for a refund. It is the responsibility of the registrant to confirm system requirements and test their computers prior to the start of the event. If a technical failure is the fault of the service provider and the session is not able to be broadcast as planned after two hours, WACUBO reserves the right to reschedule the session. If the registrant cannot attend the rescheduled session live, they will be provided with the recording after the session's conclusion, or they may request a prorated refund.


Recording Acknowledgement:

I understand that each virtual session may be recorded, including chat transcripts. Video recorded during the event may be used for promotional purposes, advertising, and other print and online materials at the sole discretion of WACUBO. All registered attendees must consent to this if they plan to attend the live sessions.


Code of Conduct:

WACUBO events are community events intended for education, networking, and collaboration. We value the participation of everyone and want all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to other attendees throughout all events hosted in the WACUBO space. To make clear what is expected, all attendees, speakers, Business Partners, organizers, and volunteers at any virtual event are required to conform to the following Code of Conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. In registering for and/or participating in this event, you consent to comply with the following Code of Conduct. 

Examples of encouraged behavior that contributes to a positive environment include:

  • Using welcoming and inclusive language
  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
  • Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
  • Focusing on what is best for everyone at the event
  • Showing empathy towards other participants

We do not tolerate the following:

  • Spam (verbally or in chats), including saying or re-posting the same word/content repeatedly in order to disrupt the conversation
  • Harassment, bullying, and intimidation
  • Harassment and bullying are defined as:
    • Negative comments about race/ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, physical appearance, citizenship, or other protected categories
    • Intimidation or threats, including sharing images or text especially to threaten
    • Unwelcome sexual attention, including sharing images or text especially to sexually harass
    • Threatening or other endangerment of minors or any persons
    • Any activity meant to convey or cultivate hostility
    • Ad hominem insults or other attacks
    • Encouraging the above behavior

Anti-Racism in Business and Finance – What Does That Mean and What Can We Do?

Description

Most Universities have diversity and inclusion offices and programs, but what does it mean to be anti-racist? How can a University make a conscious effort to lift racism out of its business and finance organization? Learn how UCSF is at the beginning steps of dismantling racist policies, processes, and norms so that you can consider taking this journey, too. This session is tailored to business officers and others working in University business and finance divisions, including auxiliaries, police, facilities, IT, etc.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Apply meaningful impact to take your diversity and inclusion programs to the next level.
  • List examples of racist policies that might exist in US Universities or organizations.
  • Learn how to identify racist and non-inclusive policies and practices within your organization. 
  • Set anti-racist and inclusive policy and procedure-making guidelines and best practices for your organization 
DRC Accommodations - What Business Officers Should Take Into Consideration When Developing Budgets October 25, 2023

Speaker: Dr. Amanda Kraus – Assistant Vice President for Campus Life and Executive Director for Disability Resources at the University of Arizona

Description

This workshop aims to empower attendees with a strong understanding of legally required disability access and the benefits of a universally designed campus. Throughout the session, participants will engage in meaningful discussion about strategies to promote inclusion.   This workshop will provide attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to begin creating a more accessible and supportive environment for disabled students, faculty, and staff. By the end of this session, attendees will be better equipped to contribute to a campus culture that respects and values all individuals, fostering a more inclusive and equitable experience.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Identify specific areas and considerations that they should account for during the budgeting process of both Operating and Capital Project budgets.
  • Define Universal Design for accessibility on campuses.
  • List the Federal requirements for physical access in employment.
"You belong here!": Supporting Trans Individuals Across the Campus November 1, 2023

Speaker: Vern Harner, MSW PhD, Assistant Professor, UW Tacoma School of Social Work and Criminal Justice

Description

This workshop aims to empower attendees with a deeper understanding of gender and, more specifically, trans identities. Throughout the session, participants will engage in meaningful discussions about the current contexts faced by trans college students, faculty, and staff in the Western region. By exploring these contexts, attendees will gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities that trans individuals encounter in higher education. This workshop will provide attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to begin creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for trans college students, faculty, and staff. By the end of this session, attendees will be better equipped to contribute to a campus culture that respects and values trans individuals, fostering a more inclusive and equitable experience for all.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Enhanced their understanding of gender and trans identities
  • Define current contexts for trans college students, faculty, and staff in the Western region
  • Identified key opportunities to support trans individuals in their distinct role(s)
