A Letter from the WACUBO President

Ruth Johnston
Strategic Chief Financial Officer
New Mexico State University

Welcome to the Fall, fellow WACUBO colleagues.

I hope your term is going well as can be expected, whether your institution has initiated face-to-face classrooms, on-line only classes or a hybrid model. What a strange 2020 we are having. With Covid-19, enrollment and budget reductions, continued systemic racism and injustices, devastating fires and the death of some of our greatest Americans (RBG for one), we are all challenged in new ways, often to the core of our being. Living in this new adaptive way, wearing masks and socially distancing, working remotely much of the time, and not travelling for work, family or pleasure is simply hard.

2020 Business Management Institute - The Virtual Experience: Update

WACUBO’s first-ever virtual event was a success! The BMI Virtual Campus welcomed participants and faculty Monday, August 3–Friday, August 7.

At the close of Thursday’s General Session, “Wellbeing, Resiliency & Talent Management in the Virtual World,” we launched a single-statement poll: “I would take another class if offered by WACUBO through a platform similar to BMI." 93% of respondents indicated they Strongly Agree!

Congratulations to everyone and we look forward to seeing you all at the 2021 Business Management Institute!
