Session Descriptions

This workshop will take place in the Pacific Time Zone from 1:00 PM–2:30 PM.

Part 1: Innovation and Emergence September 13, 2023
Field of Study: Personal Development Program Level: Basic  1.5 CPE
Time: 1:00–2:30 PM Pacific Time

Description

What if innovation is not the creation of shiny new things, but the building of new habits and practices across your organization? In Part I of this two-part series, we will focus on the five fundamental organizational practices that will uncover and address breakdowns within and across your administrative and academic functions.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session participants will:

  • Distinguish incremental change from transformational change.
  • Integrate key principles into your day-to-day work that will promote creative solutions to tangible problems.
  • Utilize a process that accelerates the adoption of new ways of working together.
Part 2: Creating a Culture of Commitment September 20, 2023
Field of Study: Personal Development Program Level: Basic  1.5 CPE
Time: 1:00–2:30 PM Pacific Time

Description

Every organization, large and small, functions as a network of commitments. These commitments are what make it possible to execute against an overarching mission. To create an innovative culture in higher education, we need to shift our way of thinking from consensus to commitment-building. In Part II of this series, we will explore ways to create a permanent shift in how cross‐departmental teams work together while instilling a culture of service across your institutions.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session participants will:

  • Integrate commitment-based language into our every practice.
  • Promote key change management principles into project-based work.
  • Apply transformational habits of coordination with your teams.
